Influences on energy efficiency with special lubricants
The lubricant, with its raison d'être of reducing friction and thus minimizing wear, deserves increased attention in times when sustainability is being talked about everywhere. With the right lubricant for a specific application, friction losses can be reduced, which do have a direct impact on the energy efficiency of industrial plants. In addition, the service life of the machine elements is optimized and the lubricant itself also achieves the best possible lifetime if it is selected to perfectly suit the application.
Setral is providing advice on the right lubricant for each application for over 50 years.
Particularly low friction values can be achieved with PAG-based industrial lubricants or through friction-optimizing additives in, for example, special PAO-based greases or mineral oil based gear oils. Laboratory tests show a reduction in friction values of up to 16% in the case of PAG and up to 39% with special additives. With such values, an effect is also certain in practice.
This type of optimization of a tribological system has a direct impact on energy efficiency, component lifetime and lubricant consumption.
