In order to achieve a good lubricating effect, before the lubricant application a clean component is essential. Cleaners are important for this, but also to remove used lubricants or for general machine cleaning. 

The cleaning effect of cleaners depends on its active ingredients. The dissolving of a residue is the fundamental precondtion for this. In general, substances can be identified as polar or non-polar. The chemical principle applies: Simila similibus solventur (similar dissolves similar). A polar, aquaeous cleaner cleans water-soluble residues - a non-polar, solvent-based cleaner cleans conventional greasy and oily residues. There are also special cleaners for special lubricants such as CLEAN-setral-INT/648 for the cleaning of all inert PFPE-containing substances. In the case of unknown residues/staining the consecutive use of several different-based cleaners is expedient e.g., CLEAN-setral-AN/U followed by CLEAN-setral-INT/648.
